Well we didn't camp on Davis for Spring Break due to a severed bicep tendon in my arm but still managed to get the camper to the coast and take the boat over to Cape Lookout. We got to see an amazing sight that only makes Cape Lookout better for me and my family. A whale (humpback?) was breaching and flopping for a solid 15 minutes. It even waved goodbye and disappeared. I got my son to grab my video camera and shoot some video before we parted ways.
As for a fishing report, my son hooked a huge drum off the point but broke him off at the boat. I saw several monster Hatteras Blues brought in and the sea mullet were being caught by the bucket full. We caught several smaller blues 1-3# range around the jetty. Hoping the arm heals quickly so I can get on the island soon.
