I won’t buy another Penn Battle or Sargus as the part number 34C Pivot Arm made of plastic will wear out over time.
I have replaced these in both of my reels and it’s not the price of the part it’s just aggravating to change.
You may not have a bit of trouble with yours coming to the island a few times a year but I use mine a lot for trout fishing and making hundreds of cast the plastic arm will wear out.
With that said I my next reel will be Diawa BG, they do not use the plastic part like Penn does but instead they use a rounded spring for throwing the bail open and closed.
For all you guys that do have the Battles, Sargus and Fierce I would put a drop of oil inside where that pivot arm rides on the metal, this will extend the life of it some.
