I am sure that everyone has their own preference and experiance regarding the jetty. In MY experiance if you throw anything live (if: cut bait, shrimp, finger mullet etc...) against the rocks the pinfish will wear you out. Some will say that its a pita but I target those smaller pinfish. Get some tiny hooks (#5 and smaller) and catch a few and hook them live. Those big choppers and the drum eat pinfish. Again its in technique preference but I take a pair of heavy scissors and cut the top fin and the little spikes on the bottom. Half the people on this board will say I am crazy the other half will say 'yep'.

Other than that I have had decent luck dropping bait about 20-30 feet away from the rocks. If you get hammered try pulling it in some. The farther away from the rocks the fewer the pinfish. Also sandfleas work great around the rocks and up against them.
