Saturday was rough, pretty hard blow with the cold front coming through. 11 ounces was blowing down the beach. Caught a crab.

Sunday things settled down. Had the wind to our backs at about 10-12 mph. Found a nice hole, caught some bait in the morning and a nice slot black drum. Went looking for a better spot after the hole stopped producing. Found a nice washover/cut on the first bar, fished both sides of the rip with chunks. Soaked for a few hours and got a 20 inch blue. About 30 minutes later the clicker went off again. Larger fish.. worked it back and landed my first NC citation red at 44.5 inches! Really healthy, beautiful fish.

Monday we sat on the same spot. Fishing for bait, brought in another slot black drum. A few small rays then the screamer hit my dad's rod. Haha he wrestled it for about 10 mins on 25 pounds of drag.. smoked him, he cramped up and handed the rod over. Worked the fish for 3 or 4 more runs of 40- 50 yards. The fish launched when I was working it over the second bar. Nice blacktip jumping action.. got it in the suds, was right at 6 ft. Always fun to catch. No fish for about 5 hours. Caught a fresh mullet and chunked him up. Rebaited, soaked for another 30 mins or so and had a fish on the big rod. Leaned back on it and drag was screaming. Worked it for 10 minutes weaving in and out of the other rods tightening the drag until I had it maxed (40 pounds of drag). After another 10 mins of runs up and down the beach I realized it was a ray (booo). It didnt lay down like the typical ray. This thing was wide open.. beached it, about 90 pounds or so. After that front came through and shut down the chopper bite, I felt like we did pretty good with all things weather considered. ~Tight Lines~
