Much the same as the south core with the exception that there are a few less people. Minor difference is the lack of the point and the jetties, but the North Core has Ocracoke inlet. I have camped both islands for years and one other difference is that the back road on the South Core is more traveled and usually in better shape than the back road on Portsmouth.
Island facilities are about the same with a public shower at the cabins. Camping is the same and fishing is the essentially the same. Just a little different slice of heaven but heaven none the less!
