Excess will drip dry or wash off. The Fluid Film will saturate into metal and to me seems like its a "seasoned" cast iron skillet. It does have a stink, especially when ya get it on exhaust! That first run down to Davis always has good smell. Pull up to ferry dock and warm buggy smells like Japanese grease trap!
We've been applying the Fluid Film for a few seasons now on the fish buggies. We meet up at Jimmy's place on a Saturday, hook up spray gun, put the goggles and frogg toggs on and commence to spray underside of buggies. Find right psi for air. Have a dedicated spray gun just for FF, its messy.
We keep our buggies on island thru June then off to bust rust and rattle can then spray FF,let hurricanes blow thru then back out to island in September.
I keep a half gallon hand sprayer down below with FF, cut it with little diesel good to go touch up after wash rac.
Kinda like sun lotion, some folk like, some not.
