We are monitoring a tropical wave with an attendant low pressure area over the central tropical Atlantic, about 200 miles north of the Leeward Islands. This feature is currently moving through a region of strong wind shear and dry air, and development is unlikely for at least the next 24 hours. After this, it will enter a more favorable environment for development and may potentially become better organized during the upcoming weekend and early next week.
A weak area of low pressure located close to Cape Canaveral, Florida, will slowly progress to the northeast. This feature is producing a counterclockwise cloud pattern typical of a developing feature. This evolving surface feature is projected to move northward toward the Carolina coast during the next day or two. There is a small window of opportunity for tropical development during the next 36-48 hours. After that, the system will encounter strong vertical wind shear.
The rest of the Atlantic Basin remains relatively quiet.
