Somewhat! If it is mosquitoes, yes. It doesn't help with the flies, and it doesn't help as much with sand gnats or "nosee-ems". My advice is deet and long pants and two layers of shirts for the biting flies. They will bite right through a tee shirt. Found too if the wind is blowing from the mainland, the flies seem to be bad. If wind is coming from the sea, no as bad. Sand gnats will make it through screens so spray the window screens before bed with bug spray. I usually take Raid flying insect spray for the screens, as much deet as I can find in a bug repellent, thermocell, and I have used those mosquito coils too.
Couple of notes: 1. The cabins have gas stoves with pilot lights so remember NOT to use the flammable sprays, bombs, coils, in, near, and around those. Might want to ask a ranger about that.
2. The flys like the back of your knees, ankles!
