Devin, Way back in the Day, I was fishing New Drum Inlet with the White Trash crew along with Jack Dunaway and some of the CRAZY game wardens. The mullet were flowing out in rivers, It was late Sept. or early Oct. and you could practically scup them up with a bucket. All us big time "DRUM fishermen" were using cut roe or cut finger mullet on fish finder rigs and thought we were big sh*t catching some nice 40+ " drum. So Along came this couple from Goldsboro in an old beat up truck and not the greatest of tackle, you know eyes missing and only 9 or 10 foot rods. their reels are only have full of what looked like 30 # test. Obviously not "cool" drum fishermen like us but it wasn't all that crowded and the guys wife was HOT ! I don't know how he'd caught her but she was Way Above His pay level, if you know what I mean?
Anyway, the guy wades out into the middle of the mullet with a 4 foot net and after a couple "line" throws manages to catch some nice finger mullet, so they proceed to put two live ones at once on double hook bottom rigs that look like Wal-mart blue light specials christmas trees and then with a mighty throw toss it in about 30 feet off the bank.
Well as of course you have by now figured out, they proceeded to catch more and bigger drum than all us "Cool" Drum fisherman for the next 3 days !!!!!

But yes guys, if you can half way toss a net you should have no problem finding finger and + size mullet on the inside and around the ferry docks and possibly even see those River Schools coming out the inlets or hanging around the point. This time of year if the weathers not rough the mullet will be there in large amounts.
Good luck in the Tournament and stay safe.
