Another couple things about the north end
you may or may not know but sometimes there are deep holes that form on the inside of the inlet along the shore line where an edies might scoop out the sand right up against the grass and bank.
I found one once that when you cast a 4 Oz bottom rig into it, it took 5 seconds to hit bottom, it happened to be full of Black Drum.
Another time after a big washover there was a pond in the middle of the island. That pond was full of 35 count shrimp. We must have caught a 5 gal. bucket full over a weeks time. Unless you walked through the brush you never would have known it was there.
Tight lines buddy and good luck in the Tournament.
I know you remember, it started as a Drum Tournament. That was the only fish that paid winner & take all !
