That time of year watch the surf line starting at dusk. Speckled swimming crab will come ashore and dig in as the wave recedes. Usually with a flashlight you can see dozens up and down the beach and use a dip net to grab them. Speckled swimmers have a slightly sweet taste and there are no size restrictions. There should be so many that you can cull the smaller ones and have plenty to eat. They are brown with white spots on their back.
