The tent cots are good with me. Plenty of room (i am 6'4 and 250lbs) in the XL version that I have. They did good in a 25 sw wind last week. I did tuck it behind my truck so in the totally exposed open i can not comment. There are several brands of tent-cot. I have the Kamp-Rite version. (it might be Camp-Rite) but you should get the picture. Be sure to get the rain fly. What I like is the it does not take hours to set-up/tear down and travels well in the back of a truck.
Lastly, i purchased the self inflating sleeping pad. Big upgrade on comfort. Recommend it highly. Getting the sleeping pads to go back into the orginal bag is a challenge.
I plan to continue to use it on the islands.
