after the thread posted here I was curious and would love not to pay any more for taxes 4 a tag than necessary so I sent in a request for more INFO. I'm going to print this and put it in my glove box:

I have a 3/4 ton truck that weighs about 6,000 # empty, if I have my slide in truck camper in it the weight goes to 9,000# , do I need a weighted tag ?

Comment: Camping trailers are not to be included in the weight
declared for license on a truck, if used only for recreational purposes.
If the slide in truck camper stays on all the time then yes you would need to get a weighted plate.
