Yes Sir Spanish were plentiful up/down the island. Hopkins, stingsilvers, even a 3oz Krockadile I was throwing at the Cobes.

A slow but peaceful ride from the parking lot to the point. Enjoying paradise- you know that feeling when you finally hit the surf line and left all that bs back on mainside for a couple days. Now cruzin along checking the gauges, waving at the chickie babies, and start to read the surf. And there they are Spanish cutting thru the glass minnows. Get out and work the Hopkins and Fish On ! It was like that all the way to point. Had limit before light house.
Fished point Saturday, slow. Released a turtle that got snagged on dudes bottom rig. Turtle had a homemade grappling hook w/ 8oz weight, and bunch mono wrapped on her. Quick work with cutters and she was free of mess and swam away good to go. Met some good ol boys having a Bachelor party, fishing, friends ,family, and Fireball shots!! Good times.
Sharks came in evening tore thru my drum offerings x4. Early to rac, awesome sleeping weather. Sunday morning couple pods of Cobia working inside shoals. Sight casting with 2oz bucktail on 6500 17lb main, 11' 3-8oz was no match for 60lb ++ Cobe in 4' water and nowhere but out the cut for her to go! Busted as main got "bar rash" cutting across shoal! That was friggin awesome! Go to buggy to re rig and here comes a pair cobes right in the suds. Spanish rod is rigged with 3/8oz Hopkins, grab it off rack and a quick cast ahead and fish on!! It was over in 10 seconds. But wow - What a feeling! I know I was under rigged but had to try. Great way to wind up paradise! Ok start that slow ride down surf line, checking gauges, waving at the chickie babies, and reading the surf.
Back on mainside now, deal with all the bs, or "life" for a couple days and get back out there!
Oh yeah, Spanish on the barbie tomorrow night!
