Members and/or Tournament Entrants,

Pack your bags/gear and get ready for some fish’n!!

Here’s what you need to know:

Tournament Update:
30th Annual Fall Fishing Tournament is a GO!!!
The DIFF Board of Directors (BOD) has determined the fall fishing tournament scheduled for Thursday, 10/11 thru Saturday, 10/13 will commence as scheduled!! Great strides have been made by the NPS, NPS Emergency Incident Management Team, and Ferry Operators over the past 2 weeks. Although there are on-going repairs and other restoration activities the BOD (based on inputs from all stakeholders) has determined it is reasonably safe to proceed with the tournament as planned next week. Reminder: Check-in is required prior to 12pm eastern on Thursday, 10/11 to participate!!

NPS & ORV Ferry Update:
NPS will open Cape Lookout Thursday, 10/4/2018
ORV Ferry Operators will resume normal operations Thursday, 10/4/2018

Cabin Update:
Significant efforts have been made by NPS to restore cabin availability. Cabins 5, 13,14, 16, 20, 21, 22 and 26 will officially be reinstated by the NPS for use starting on Saturday, 10/6/2018, if you had a reservation for one of these cabins prior to the storm, you will be contacted by the NPS and offered the opportunity to continue your original reservation. Additional cabins will be reinstated for use as repairs are completed, the same opportunities will be made available to continue these reservations as the cabin repairs are completed. We anticipate additional cabins will be available early next week. However, cabins 1, 9 and 10 will not be available for the remainder of 2018.

Did you have a cabin?
As we understand it; those individuals with cabin reservations that were previously canceled & refunded will be contacted by the NPS and given the option to restore their cabin reservations or forfeit restoring their reservation at your choice. If you do not restore your reservation it will become available to the general public on a as first come first serve basis.

Have a questions about Cabins?
If you had a reservation for one of the following cabins 11, 12, 14, 18, 20 or 23 for the tournament, please contact Lance Brown at (336) 558-7942. If you have general questions about the cabins, please feel free to contact Lance as well.

Running late or can’t check-in for the tournament before 12pm on Thursday, 10/11?
Call or Text Rich Lambert at 803-517-7343 prior to 12pm noon on Thursday 10/11.

Can’t attend the tournament?
Some members and/or their families, friends, and communities have been significantly impacted by Hurricane Florence. For some members the uncertainty of the tournament led to making alternative plans and/or changes in their vacation/time off requests. The variability of all these situations makes it difficult to decide how to handle individual tournament participation (cancelations/no shows). Hence, the BOD has unanimously agreed that compassion will prevail in these difficult circumstances; therefore tournament entrants who are unable to attend the tournament will have several options regarding their tournament entry fee. These options include a refund to the tournament entrant or the option to donate their entry fee to: DIFF hurricane relief fund, DIFF college scholarship fund, or DIFF grant fund. Tournament attendance will be finalized after check-in is completed on Thursday, 10/11 and anyone who was unable to attend the tournament will be contacted. Note that it may take several weeks to contact members who were unable to attend the tournament; therefore please be patient with the BOD as we manage this process. We are committed to doing the best we can in a timely manner.
