went over friday morning and headed south to point. Flat and low but caught some pups wading. turned right toward jetties and caught nice 2-3 lb pompano, blues and a lot of pin fish. moved up beach to overnight and you have to stay in the dune tracks to be safe. My interpretation of the sloughs is that this is where the waves crashed in creating a ditch that fills up at high tide that you have to wade across to fish for half the tide cycle. Word of caution. if you are on the beach in front of the ditch and a big wave comes over with high tide approaching, in 5 minutes you might find yourself on an island so get ready to bolt. Next day we went north of the cabins via the road. pretty bumpy with a few deep potholes. Beach is also quite dodgy to drive or even get on unless you want to go through water. Returned south of lighthouse for sat night and then back to jetties fro sunday night. Caught pups nice blues, a few screamers and also had several pickups and drops at night that could have been tarpon. Not a sea mullet or blowtoad in sight with water temps at 82. Biting flies during day and mosquitoes at night
Be prepared.
