here is what he sent me:

Jeff - I read your comment this morning, and I know trust is a damaged commodity with the federal government. I appreciate you taking the time.

I want you to know that all of the revenues generated by the cabins go back into the cabins and most years we have project money we spend on the cabins as well. Most folks have little clue what it costs to run the cabins. Water systems, waste water systems, the harbor and docks, the roads, IT infrastructure, cabin repairs and upkeep, equipment, and labor on a remote island where everything comes in by boat is costly - wish it was not.

We spent over 200 hours last year replacing or repairing screens - often we would have to go right back and repair ones that had just been done. The environment and heavy use by people make it sort of ridiculous to go back and do the same thing over and over again. I made the call to stop the screen repair, but am open to coming up with other options.

We lost two cabins to the storm and had a third cabin heavily damaged, but we managed to get opened back up for folks pretty quickly. The damaged cabin is undergoing repairs now - about $30,000.00 will be invested in that cabin before we are done. We are trying - hope you will come back and enjoy the cabins in 2019!

i am very impressed that i even go a response let alone one from the Superintendent! I have heard good things about Jeff West and now i can add to that! Refreshing to have someone in that position that actually reads and listens to the user groups!
