Back in the 80's & 90's I used to see local folks pulling in nets on the beach at Les and Sally's. There was an unbelievable amount of dead juvenile fish (thousands) of all kinds strewn on the beach and just left there for the seagulls. This happened on a daily basis. I picked up many a "keeper fish" off the beach that they weren't interested in. I remember wondering how long they could keep up that practice without depleting the stocks to the point they'd have nothing left to harvest. Thankfully I think that practice is no longer allowed.
