Same here. We were in our camper and our daughter and her husband along with 2 children were in their camper. He was having transmission issues so when we stopped fishing and looked for a spot to spend the night we got up close to the dunes. We were probably 15 -20 feet from the high path and we had people in trucks and suv's fly by us. I was more worried about the kids playing on the beach than I am walking a city street. I realize money from tickets written at CALO go into a big pot where hardly any of it goes back to its origination but if we did get it all back you could have sat by my camper with a radar gun and collected enough money to pave the backroad. And about that "ORV Education Permit". When first implemented there was an online course that had to be read printed and handed to the park service caretaker before getting a sticker. In that list of regulations it states slow to 5 mph within 100 ft of pedestrians. I looked up the definition of pedestrian and it doesn't describe someone walking around their truck as a pedestrian but anyone with common courtesy would understand the need to slow down. So now they don't even ask if you have read the regulations so what is the point of the sticker? I've been going since 81 and I never thought people would be so reckless I would have to take caution cones to put around my truck when I park. I'm not suggesting more government intervention, you can't legislate away rudeness and inconsideration but once again what about that ORV education permit?
