no expert by a long shot, but i like braided line for sensitivity. back in july, i was catching 10-12" croaker on a 12' heavy rod with 30# braid. I could see the bites from my chair. on the flip side, i've caught similar size croaker on a 7' medium rod, with 15# mono, and never even knew i had a bite until i reeled it in. none of my gear is top of the line stuff though, so i don't know if that matters. gonna try some flouro this year for the first time. stringing one rod with it, and using the rest of the spool for leader.
