A penn squal is a forgiving bait caster if you adjust it right. Always adjust it before slinging it with what you are casting. Let it drop to the ground . If it drops too fast and begins to bird nest, tighten it until it drops without doing that . Then cast a few short casts before throwing too hard. Have your thumb ready and put pressure on the spool when it hits the water. An Abu Garcia 6500 is another good baitcaster.
