Went over early Friday morning and fished our way south. looked for sand flea colonies based off of earlier reports up here. Fishing was dead. Sharks, skates, and rays werent even biting. Made it to the south point around 2pm and set up between two other trucks. Talked to them and both had been there since the morning without a bite on anything. Stuck around for an hour or so and decided to work back north. More of nothing. Saturday we started working north again back towards the cabins. Talked to a couple people on the way and everyone reported catching nothing. Most people we saw either had few rods out or didnt look like they were expecting to catch anything. Dropped my brother off at the ferry saturday afternoon and spoke to a group from Clinton who told us they had got on a decent sea mullet bite further south on fleas. We took his advice and made our way down there and managed to catch a few. Saturday night the wind turned e/ne and we made our way to the north point Sunday morning. On the incoming tide Sunday afternoon/evening we got on a decent sea mullet bite (Fleas were the ticket) and even caught a keeper sheepshead of all things. Had the big drum rods out the whole time and they never got touched. Bite died when the tide switched and we packed up and got ready for the storm coming in. Didnt fish monday morning and just caught the 9am ferry off the island. Overall the fishing was very poor on the island. Still enjoyed being out there. I noticed that there seemed to be more non fishing tourists than there were people fishing. First time i have seen it like that. Hoping to go back in october or november. Hope the fishing will be better then.
