The suggestions above are all solid calls. The Saltist right out of the box is a good start.
Education of your thumb is a life long process. Just practice and enjoy. A couple of guys offer classes and one on one instruction if you want to go down that road.
Set your reel up like what is suggested above. Do not worry too much about distance until the thumb has a little learning.
I have thrown for 20 plus years and still produce a world class bird’s nest. I think fighting a fish on a bait casting reel is so much better than a spinning reel.
