I'm going to chime in here...
Those of you who are bitching and complaining about more people using the island... Who are you going to request support from the next time the government tried to restrict public use to these barrier islands?
I am the one started the Cape Lookout Fishing Facebook group. I did it to help raise awareness to the new ORV plan (2016) that was going to shut down night vehicle travel and restrict the size of vehicles allowed on the island. We all wrote letters and emails to the park service concerning that issue.
And guess what...the next time we need to band together...write letters... submit comments to the park service...
We now have a DIRECT line of 6,200 members to call into action to send those letters...and emails.
