another positive for running a shock leader is that when fighting a big fish in the dark, you will feel the knot come through the tip and know how much line you still have out. Once that knot is around the spoil you have moved from 20 or 50# test to 80# or what ever you shock leader is.
you guys must not ever throw backlashes is all I've got to say.
