Just wondering? What if you can't find a ranger? Tickets for not having permit? It would be a pain, not to mention adding an xtra hour if I had to go to Harkers Island for a camping permit. I would rather pay a reasonable (or even an "unreasonable") fee to AWFC for their trouble. JM2cents.
