Sorry to be so late in posting this, but I can't access the FishReports page from my server at work, and that's mainly where I've been since taking a couple days off to fish...We slid in between northeasterly winds and scored pretty good. Too rough to fish the beach most of the time, and north end has flattened out even more since last fall. We ended up at the gun mounts, seeking shelter from the blow, and danged if we diddn't get into a mess of chopper blues. Caught 8 on Friday afternoon/eve, mainly just as the tide was turning from low. All hit cut mullet. Did not see nor hear of a single drum, only rumors that somebody on the north end had scored the night before. Saturday was beautiful, we went from sweaters to shorts, no shirts and bare feet. Got another nice (12 lb.) blue on the outside of the point, and just as we were landing and releasing him, the northeast wind slammed in agin with absolutely no warning or signal, although we knew from NOAA it was due to happen sometime. Instant cold and whitecaps, but still clear as a bell and gorgeous. Scared the fish away, though. No baitfish spotted. Messed around with a flyrod but too windy (for me anyway) and nothing running that I could see. Got to see Kyle when we came ashore, good to know he's doing fine in NYC. Whoda thunk it. Thanks again to AWFC crew, old salts Johnny, Joey and James seem to be training up the new guys just fine. Go if you can!
