If you have never been in the spring, you must go! The island is full of shells, not nearly as crowded, no insects, and very peaceful. Bait is difficult to find, ost everything is frozen. I freeze my own in the fall. Big blowfish are the closest thing to try and guarantee which are excellent to eat. Gray trout and large Va. mullet are also caught in the spring. And normally if you catch fish at night they will be sharks or large drum Fishing is usually better in the fall but I've had great luck in the spring and enjoy the peacefulness that I go every spring.
