Drum may be anywhere on the island on any given day. The weather will dictate where they will be. They don't call it Drum Inlet for nothing, although the beach maybe closed up there for Piping Plover nesting if any are spotted by the park service. Tarpon are a lucky shot at best, the only ones I've ever hooked (never got one to the beach)or heard of being hooked, have been near the cape and that was in early Sept. If you really want to catch a Tarpon contact George Beckwith info@pamlicoguide.com 252/249-3101 He is a guide out of Oriental, NC (across Pamlico sound) and has probably caught more on hook and line than anyone in NC. The best time of year to catch one is late summer, July-Sept. Oh, and use a circle hook they are likely to throw any other.
