I have the Igloo cooler that is to hold ice for 5 days. Our group used it on the core banks last year and on return home we bought two more at Neuse Sporting Goods. We Love them...BUT as with any coller you have to limit how much you open them and expose them to the outside air. We usually designate one person to be in charge of our coolers and the ice so all eight are not opening any coller they please. We freeze four gallon square mayo buckets with water and place the ice block in a garbbage bag and place this in the coolers (48 quart will hold two blocks) and then fill any open space with cubed or crushed ice. We them cover all collers at cabins with a tarp to keep sun off and use only one coller at a time. In doing this we have not have to purchase ice for the past three or more years and have even had ice left at the end of six days. This may sound extreme but we figure that we save at least 100.00 per one week trip.
