They were horrible on Wednesday (9/11/02) and 2 of us went through a can of repellant in less than a day. We had Repel Sportman Formula 29% deet and it kept them away as long as you had a nice coating. If you didn't you were in trouble - those suckers are relentless. The next couple days they weren't bad and I hardly used any bug spray at all. The wind was blowing steady so it kept them away. My advice is bring LOTS of bug spray because if there isn't much wind they will be all over you. Early in the week the folks at Alger Willis were having trouble getting any from what I heard. I had some family arrive later that brough enough to kill all the mosquitos on the island and leave a nice hole in the ozone too.
