If the fish are out far, yes you need to cast farther. Most of the time you don't need to cast real far to catch fish in the surf, but for sure sometimes the better casters will catch more fish. I have heard that blanched sandfleas will freeze good and can be saved for good bait later. I have never tried it though. Later.
