My theory is this. (Not popular with my wife) If you already have 6 to 8 rod now, you have no choice but to get a 9 rod. It will come in handy for other stuff as well. Never give up a chance to get another rod. My favorite 9 rod is the Penn Spinfisher Big Game medium action. I dont have one but I know a guy who does. It is great rod. Really light weight.
