Maddog.. I really like a 7-8 foot medium action with somme good backbone but a very sensitive tip. The Shimano Clarus rods work very well at a reasonable price ( should be under $70.00 new). I also like several of the All-Star Rods.. very light and strong but can be a bit pricey. Contact Jeff Brinn (Dogshark Rods) and he can help you a lot.
