DIFF LOSES A VALUED BOARD MEMBER
AND FRIEND

On Good Friday,  March 29, 2002 DIFF lost a hard working board member and great friend-- Ron White. 

Ron was also president of R.W. Manufacturing -- the same R.W. Manufacturing that has donated the meal during our annual tournament for several years.

We will sorely miss Ron and his dedication to friends, the Island, and DIFF.  His partner had these words to say of Ron: 

"He was a great friend and business partner.  I honestly cannot think of another man who lived true to his beliefs and convictions as did Ron.  His belief that neighbor helps neighbor and that man helps man is a vanishing trait.  Perhaps all people should adopt more of this philosophy!"


The following obituary was published in the Winston-Salem Journal:

Mr. Ronnie "Ron" Edward White, 53, of Follansbee Road died unexpectedly Friday, March 29, 2002. He was born May 29, 1948, in Forsyth County to Herman J. and Ethel Long White. Mr. White was a member of Hebron United Church of Christ. He served on the board of the Griffith Volunteer Fire Department and the Davis Island Fishing Foundation. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed farming. He was the president of R.W. Manufacturing Co. Mr. White is survived by his wife, Barbara Kay Snyder White of the home; three sons, Adam White, Seth White and Jake White, all of the home, and a daughter, Kala White of the home. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday, April 1, 2002, at Hebron United Church of Christ by the Rev. Jeff Hammonds and the Rev. Kevin Gilliam. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The body will lie-in-state 30 minutes before the service. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. Memorials may be made to Hebron United Church of Christ, Cemetery Fund, 129 Hebron Church Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27127.
