Welcome to DIFFClub.com!

June 4-8, 2001

Twenty five volunteers from the Core Banks Surf Fishing Club and the Davis Island Fishing Foundation participated in a very successful worktrip at the Great Island Camp on South Core Banks. The DIFF work crew headed by Ron White and Roger Wise who built porches on cabins 20 and 21. The CBSFC wiring crew headed by Roy Byrd wired cabins 5 and 18.  The CBSFC paint crew headed by Wayne Brooks painted the interior and exterior of cabin 6 and the exteriors of cabins 4 and 5.  The joint cooking crew headed by Tom Monaco with much valuable assistance from Helen Wynnberry prepared most of the meals. Alger Willis Fishing Camps, Inc provide a very nice BBQ meal on Wednesday evening.  AWFC also waived all fees.

The Park Service accepted our services under the Volunteer in The Parks Program with a formalized agreement.  An estimate of the number of man-hours put into the projects was assessed and this totaled 436 hours or equivalent to about eleven work weeks for one individual.

Although much work was accomplished there was some time for fishing and enough fish were caught to have a big fish fry on Thursday night plus a number of the participants had an opportunity to take some fish home.
