First of all , prayers go out to all who are still recovering from Hurricane Helene. Just surviving and providing for your family and loved ones takes priority over fishing. I am sure many of you had to cancell trips and go into survival mode.
Rock Hill, SC had power outages for 2-3 days. SC had sent utility crews to Florida and when it hit RH there were not enough crews to restore power. I was w/o it for 8 hours, others in my party for 2 days.
7 of us caught the 1:30 ferry on Sunday and headed to the south point, We fished there for 3 days because the North point was closed. Fishing was tough. Bait stealers had your bait the moment it hit the water. 6 fish on Sunday, a few blues and spots. Monday, 34 fish after putting on bream hooks and yanking as soon as they bit, Pin fish, Spots, Toads, small pompano. Bait would not sit long enough for a drum to bite. Tuesday, mid day they cut a road and opened the north point.62 fish.2 drum 29" and 28 ". The rest were pin, spots, croakers, puffers, bait stealers. Wednesday and Thursday we fished north end. 10 slot drum and plenty of pin, spots, croakers, puffers. 2 decent gray trout,16',19'.5 day total, 130 fish. Pin, croaker, puffers, spots, whiting, pompano, blues ,12 drum. A great fish fry the last night.
