Just got home from eight days on the northern island. In summary, spent six days at one spot and left an eight-day trip with a half tank of gas left in the truck. That is a statement about the fishing not my driving.
Had a great time with a couple of excellent anglers. They know what to do. Some of it is very different from what Junior does and that is a good thing.
All got citation drum with a couple old old drum landed.
"Junior goes down!!" was said during a landing of one of the drum. Water was not too cold in fact rather nice.
We caught: the range of fish. Mullets, trout, bluefish, flounder, pompano, slot drum, over slot drum and what is going to be a long timed remembered blowtoad. (if ya know ya know)
CLMS tournament was a lot of fun. This is a great group of people who love the northern island with some passion.
In review, I have always wanted to be on the island when the big "October" bite happens. I have had some great trips, but the timing of this one was spot on. Biggins were caught all up and down the two islands. Some spots better than other but it was a classic drum chewings....them biggins where feeding. Finger mullet worked the best for me.
God blessed the island with a northern light show and a comet. What a place.
The southern end opened up end the end of my trip but I did not visit it. Was told it was rather flat and over washed.
Tight Lines,
