Went over Thursday and was on the island by noon. High winds and slow fishing. Folks were filling coolers with hundreds of blowtoads off the pier down by the lighthouse - most effective with the tide going out. A hald piece of shrimp worked best. We caught a few to try, and I was amazed at how tasty those ugly things are. They were delicious! We caught sea mullet consistently the whole trip. We had the best luck right by the cabins. One guy we met caught several black drum in the morning right at high tide off the north end - there is a hole about .1 mi. south of the inlet. Another group had luck in the evening, again at high tide, catching black drum out of the inlet. There is a lot of seaweed in the inlet so be prepared to deal with that. They had their luck on the sound side of the inlet. We heard some talk that big red drum were being caught off the north end, but I didnt actually see one caught or talk to anyone who caught one. As far as bait goes, shrimp seemed to work best for toads, mullet and black drum. Baitfish are scarce in the sound, but we did manage to fill a baitwell with nice size finger mullet - we found a nice school by the ferry dock and that was it. Regardless, our fresh live bait was only good for sharks and skates. Despite the fairly slow fishing, we had a great time as always. Thanks to the AWFC folks for another great trip. Anyone going over in the next few weeks, keep us informed and let us know what youre catching. Good Fishing, Jeremy
