Went to Cape Lookout 4-21-23. Caught a decent mess of sea mullet and a few blows and small blues. Founda gannet on the beach. Called the AWFC crew, who brought the bird to Noreen Fisher in Marshallburg. She says he/she was dehydrated and starving, had alot of mites which suck blood and might have been anemic. She gave it iron, B12, fish, and fluids. Now hes doing much better, and she thinks it will be discharged in another week. Doesnt know quite what happened to it. The trip ended with my transmission catching on fire (96 full size bronco, the 2nd time this has happened in 18 months. Last time in a 92 chevy truck. This time it went out by itself instead of burning up the entire vehicle. Never a dull moment. The AWFC crew was very kind and helpful as usual.
