6/26 thru 6/29. Much better looking fishermen/women on island this time of year than may/oct diehards, who look like they come to fish. I always look like Im here to fish, I guess thats why so many people stop to chat. Always great people on island. Many thanks to youngster(me 45) who stopped and gave us a tow,he was driving a silver dodge and was carrying a tow strap, the sand was soft, dry and deep, and 12.5s and 18 lbs air were no go.Fish-5:30-10:30 Am great(recommend taking an nap from 11am until 4 pm), trout, flounder(short mostly) whiting, spots and several 20+ lb. stingrays.. lots of fun.At night, the hole we found had sharks and stringrays up to 4 feet long, trout heads and cut blues for bait.Flounder hit live minnows and strip baits.Everything else was caught on shrimp.Alger willis crew great as ever, we limped along with a broken brake line -so no brakes-discovered problem on ferry going over-,and had to drive without brakes, which is no problem in sand,. Part is special order from dealer, saturday delivery-very funny- so we cut and plugged bad line and made it safely home with brakes on 3 wheels. Going back in september. Many thanks to alger willis crew, who will go out of their way to help if you have any kind of problem on the island.
