Brought two 12 year old boys down for a fishing/camping trip. Both kids had their hearts set on tangling with some big Blacktips and Spinners, so we didnt really fish for real fish as hard as we should have. Still caught the usual flounder-trout-spot-mullet stuff--but its Summer time, and ya just about have to fish at night to really kill em. Fishing was best on mid-tide stages--either rising or falling. High was terrible for real fishing--the water was full of small 3-4 feet long sharks. They kept the boys pretty happy, but seemed to run the trout/mullet out of the surf. Mid-day was normally real slow--coincided with Low Tide also. There were plenty of flounder--but we never found any real concentrations. (Never got a chance to fish South Side or jetty either) JMHO--way best bet for good fishing would be to fish all night, and sleep during the day. Fishing was good from Dawn until about 8AM, and would crank back up just before sundown. Theres plenty of fish out there--but ya gotta work for em. As always--the AWFC folks were great. Luv dem guys--mean it.
