I have a 12 ft. Silstar rod that I like to set for drum fishing, actually anything big. The only problem is, the butt end of the rod is too long for me. I would like to cut off about 8 inches of the butt. Does anyone know if this will weaken the rod? Also, where might I find more foam grip for after I cut the rod?
