Dead horse and destroyed houses

My Daughter lives near Edenton on the Cowan River. There is mass devastation there, hundreds of homes destroyed and cars that floated away in the water. Forest leveled/maybe tornadoes? Roofs ripped off houses; other houses picked up from their foundations and deposited 4 lots away on the neighbor’s car! Mattresses and siding in tree tops. In places the river was 10 feet above its banks sweeping docks and sea walls away and leaving debris on peoples porches 10 feet off the ground. Halifax County has NO electricity and hundreds of thousands of other people are watching their refrigerators melt and food spoil. Generators are not to be found; if you can there is now gasoline to run them on because the gas stations are closed for lack of power. Roads are close for trees and power lines blocking the way and bridges that are out .

I have a friend on Harkers Island who returned home today to find a dead pony in their front yard. Presumed to have come from Shackelford Banks!
The news media has blown it; they are on the coast coving the vacation homes of the rich while the real peoples suffering goes unnoticed.
Governor Easley and Senator Edwards (yes hes in the state for a change) are on TV saying everything is fine and that power will be back on and the roads open shortly. I guess to him shortly is 3 weeks?
Sorry for venting, BUT!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thankfully most people are safe and Things can be replaced. There are lots of volunteers out there already and more will be needed.
God Bless those in need!
