I have power pro on all of my spinning rods. I'm going into my 4th season ( I surf fish a lot )on one of them with the same spool of power pro and it is still working fine. I haven't even bothered to reverse it yet cause it is wearing fine. it is not frey or anything. 20# is great for most surf rods you wont go back some reels don't like it (wind knots) i had a penn 440 ssg that worked great till it started with the wind knots then I went to mono on it and had the same problem so got rid of that and I don't use penn now but that is another discussion and I'm sure penn makes some fine reels just not that one. You will cast farther and love it I have never broke it there is always a failure somewhere else usually my knot tying. I have never cut my fingers on it either if your throwing big loads use a shock leader that comes onto your spool so you are casting with your fingers on that that not the braid. lol
