I've heard of spraying down the frame (and engine, and body) with diesel fuel.
Motor oil isn't good for the environment (diesel fuel isn't all that much better). What drips off the vehicle can eventually contaminate ground water. You'll make a mess where you do this.
Fluid Film is mostly lanolin - more environmentally friendly, and does a better job (you'll find many recommendations on this board for it).
