You can also get the military tent stakes ( used from most any army navy store ) they come in 12 and 18 inch lengths and are made of aluminum. They have a wide blade and hold well in the sand. I like to add a length of cord to the tent loop which allows you to drive the stake below level for better hold. I keep some in my truck and they were used last weekend on Portsmouth.
