I placed the corner tent stakes about a foot from the loops of the tent. Then I placed a standard bungee cord with hooks, through the loops of the tent and fasten them to the stakes. I know the wind was
30/35 mph at night and the 30 year old canvas tent held just fine. One word of caution. Dont sleep near the tent corners. The first night of wind something kept thumping me in the head. I finally went outside to see what it was. I saw the corners were flexing with the wind and then would snap back into place, that is where the thump came from.
Really felt dumb then, but I got over it.
