(Joey) C. Davis, 50; service Sunday
Joseph
Carl Davis, 50, of Davis, beloved husband, father, son and brother, died
Wednesday, May 14, 2003, at Carteret General Hospital.
His
funeral will be at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday at Davis First Baptist Church with the
Rev. Billy Webb and the Rev. Tom Dubose officiating. Burial will follow in the
Davis Family Cemetery.
Mr.
Davis was born Aug. 15, 1952, grew up in Davis, and attended ECU. He served in
the U.S. Navy during Vietnam, working on a nuclear submarine for six years. He
worked for the civil service aboard Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point for
15 years. He was blissfully happy as the caretaker on Core Banks for Alger
Willis Fishing Camp for nine years. He maintained his real estate broker’s
license throughout the past 20 years, was a deacon for First Baptist Church,
Davis, and coached softball with the Down East Woman’s League. Woodworking
was one of his favorite pastimes, having built many gifts for his family and
friends.
He is
survived by his wife, Lynn Davis; two daughters, Jesica Bryan of Wilmington
and Cassandra Bryan of the home; a son, Jody Davis of Davis; his mother, Edith
C. Nelson and husband Bernard of Sea Level; his father, Joseph C. “J.C.”
Davis and wife Elaine of Davis; two sisters, Kathy Larkins of Wilmington and
Melanie Rose and husband Cramer of Atlantic; a brother, Mickey Davis and wife
Debbie of Davis; an aunt, Jeanette Fulcher and husband Wesley of Stacy; a
great aunt, Carrie Alligood of Morehead City; and nieces and nephews, Michael,
Lisa and Jacob Springle, all of Chicago, Ill., Melodi Springle of Lithuania,
Mick Davis of Wilmington, Nicky Davis of Atlantic and John and Dani Larkins of
Wilmington.
He was
preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Viola and Joe Davis; maternal
grandparents, Carl and Essie Chandler; and a great aunt, Zada Noe.
The
family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday at Munden Funeral Home
and Crematory Inc. of Morehead City.
