If the assessment finds that the preferred alternative poses a threat to the environment, then the club expects that a Environmental Impact Statement will be performed.
The next few years are likely to be ones of great change for Cape Lookout National Seashore. The DIFF Club hopes that the Park Service will call on our members' thousands of years of collective experience on Davis Island for guidance in managing these changes.

We brake for Turtles

Jackie Parker, who usually answers the phone when you call Alger Willis Fishing Camps, had a mild stroke in late August.
But she was back at work in a couple and weeks and is doing fine.
Everyone in the DIFF Club wishes her well, and we promise to make life easier on her and make it to the ferry dock on time.
The club has a couple of its own walking wounded, Dick Gray and Frank Long.
Dick was severly injured last winter in a skiing accident, breaking his collar bone and an assortment of other bones. He was laid up most of the winter and spring and missed his annual spring trip to Davis Island.
Dick made his first trip to the island in early September, and we expected him to make up for lost time and stay until Christmas. But he went back to the mountains after only two weeks. He'll be back.
Frank had a back operation in mid-July, which the doctor said would keep him out of action for three months. He doesn't know Frank very well.
You'll see him hobbling around, but fishing, at the tournament.
